Getting Dirty Day - Cold Weather Painting!

Cold Weather Painting?

If you've got some exterior painting to tackle around your home
there are temperature guidelines to ensure the best outcome.

For latex paint the temperature should be between
50 - 85 degrees.  Keep in mind during colder months you
also need to consider the temperature of your substrate -
the item being painted.

Oil based paints have a little wider range, and painting can be

 done between 40 - 90 degrees.

I used a paint today by Sherwin Williams called "Resilience."
It can be used in temperatures as low as 35 degrees and it develops

resistance to moisture in a shorter time than traditional paints - just 2 hours.
It's a great product and can be bought in quarts as opposed to gallons.

A tinted quart runs about $25 regular price.

Color matching exterior paints is always difficult.

Each side of the house gets different amounts of sunlight and weathering.
Good luck with your home projects!
