Three Finger Jack Cabernet - Lodi 2016
First - Where did the winery's name of "Three Finger Jack" come from?
3 Finger Jack was a legendary bandit and gunslinger who roamed central California during early days of the Gold Rush, when thirsty miners first began growing grapes and making wine in the present-day appellations of Lodi, California.
Inspired by Three Finger Jack’s daring character, this red bursts with unabashed fruit and a structure to be reckoned with. Polished tannins and saturated flavors of black plums and cherries spiced with coffee and black pepper let you know that this is not your ordinary Cabernet.
Serve with juicy steaks, lamb chops, rare burgers or aged cheeses.
Carnivor Zinfandel - 2016
This full-bodied Carnivor Zinfandel is juicy, bold, big and flavorful, featuring hints of spice with a smooth touch for a complete palate. Intense dark fruit flavors of blackberry, plum and boysenberry are matched with notes of mocha, dark chocolate, black pepper and baking spice. Flavors of vanilla and toasted almond linger with a long, smooth finish.
Dave, my "wine guy" at Hy-Vee (Center Point Road/Blairs Ferry location) said
to follow the 20/20 Rule for Wine.
It's a great idea with warmer weather to maybe try lowering our "room temperature" wines to the room temperature they traditionally were meant for.  Dave explained we keep our homes around 70-72 degrees, but "room temperatures" were much cooler in centuries past.
The 20/20 Rule -
Place Red Wines in the refrigerator for 20 minutes, then remove and uncork,

letting it breathe for 20 minutes.
White Wines should be removed from the refrigerator 20 minutes before serving.

Cheers!
